Why our soundproof curtains cost less than half as much
Our soundproof curtains are heavier than typical acoustic curtains, yet they cost less than half as much. That sounds suspicious, so let us explain how it works.
It all started with one email
“I want great sound, but I only have £370.” That’s what a customer once wrote to us. They wanted to record at home but couldn’t afford an expensive studio. We took it as our brief. We tested, improved and improved again, until in 2010 a review of our first acoustic blanket came in: “Don’t change a thing, it’s perfect.” Since then we have stuck to one rule: make acoustics and soundproofing that work like professional gear, yet anyone can afford. A low price isn’t a sale for us. It’s the goal we started with.

What you are really paying for in a soundproof curtain
Mass is what stops street noise and echo in a room. The more material per square metre, the more sound the curtain absorbs and the less it lets in. With an acoustic or soundproof curtain, you are mainly paying for weight per square metre. Typical acoustic curtains weigh around 500 to 1,000 grams per square metre. Our soundproof curtains start at 1,300 grams, and the heaviest weighs 2,850. You can feel the difference in your hand and hear it in the room.
“A really thick curtain, you can feel the quality of the fabric straight away.” – customer from France
Why acoustic curtains are often so expensive
Most manufacturers make acoustic and soundproof curtains from molton or velvet, which they buy on rolls from suppliers. But a single layer weighs very little, so they have to stack many layers to reach the weight they need. Every layer means more material and more sewing, and that ends up in the price.
Typical acoustic curtain many thin layers of molton or velvet
Our curtain one or two layers of our acoustic blanket
One material, the whole range
It all starts with our own acoustic blanket. We have it made to our own recipe and in large volumes, so it costs less and weighs more. A curtain is then one or two layers of this blanket, with no stacking of thin fabrics. We use the same material across the whole range: curtains, ceiling blankets, acoustic booths and the door soundproofing LiteSilence, FrontSilence and NovaSilence. The last two also have a heavy vinyl layer that holds back even more sound coming through the door. That’s why the good price isn’t just for curtains.

A heavier curtain for less than half the price
We compared our soundproof curtains with heavy acoustic curtains from a well-known German manufacturer, in the same size of 200 × 220 cm.
In both cases you get the same look, blackout and help keeping the warmth in. Plus more weight, for less than half the price.
Don’t take our word for it. Take theirs.
Numbers are one thing. But what do people say who have also bought acoustic or soundproof curtains from other companies?
