Portable vocal recording booth - SoundProof booths

A portable recording booth turns an ordinary room into a place where your voice sounds clean and dry – and when you move, it moves with you. Choose an acoustic booth that removes the echo of the room, or a soundproof booth that also keeps noise out.

Acoustic or soundproof recording booth?

An acoustic booth (AVB, VOMO) is lined with heavy acoustic blankets: it removes the echo of the room, so the recording sounds as if it was made in a studio, and it reduces noise by up to 10 dB. That is enough for voice-over, podcasts and vocals in a reasonably quiet home. If you need to keep out traffic or neighbours – or not to be heard yourself – choose a soundproof booth: the SPB33's mass-loaded vinyl panels reduce noise by 32 dB in the mid range with a single wall and by 38 dB with a double wall.

Which booth for which use?

The right size depends on what you record and whether you sit or stand:

  • VOMO – a portable mini booth around your head and microphone for voice-over, podcasts and recording on the road; it folds flat.
  • AVB3 (100×100 cm) – standing vocals and voice-over.
  • AVB4 (120×120 cm) and AVB5 (150×150 cm) – recording at a desk with a chair; measure your desk first.
  • AVB 200×200 cm – room for an instrument or two people.
  • SPB33S / SPB33D (100×100 cm) – when noise, not echo, is the problem.

Set-up and moving

The AVB booths stand on a scissor frame and are set up in about ten minutes without tools; an LED light is included. All booths can be taken apart, carried in their bags and set up again after a move. The standing booths are 200 cm tall, so they fit under a normal ceiling.

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions customers ask us most often about recording booths.

Is a portable booth soundproof?
An acoustic booth is not – it reduces noise by up to 10 dB. For real noise isolation choose an SPB booth.

Do I need tools?
Not for the AVB booths. SPB booths are assembled by two people.

Will it sound boxy?
No. The walls are made of thick acoustic blankets rather than thin foam, so they absorb the low-mid frequencies that make small booths sound boxy.
